IMPACT logoThe IMPACT Awards 2010

We are delighted to report that HALE has been declared a winner by the IMPACT Awards, in recognition of the innovative health work we are doing in the Shipley area.  We have been listed amongst the top 10 voluntary organisations in Britain and will receive a £25,000 award!

The IMPACT awards are operated by GlaxoSmithKline in partnership with the King's Fund.  The King's Fund is a charity that seeks to understand how the health system in England can be improved.  The awards have been running since 1997 and are designed to recognise and reward charities that are doing excellent work to improve peoples' health.

HALE was selected from over 350 applications as having demonstrated "an energetic commitment to the health and wellbeing of their communities".

Project Manager Natasha Thomas said of the awards: "We are delighted that we are one of the top 10 in the country and have been awarded £25,000 - and we could still be the overall winner!  It's wonderful to gain recognition from such a  prestigious organisation as the King's Fund, and has undoubtedly reinforced the motivation within the team."

HALE intends to use this opportunity to buy an outreach bus which will provide information about sexual health and healthy eating throughout the area.  Our participation in the awards will also enable HALE to broaden our contact network, enabling us to share information, ideas and working practices with similar projects in other areas of the UK.

One overall winner will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held at the Science Museum in London, in April, and will be awarded a further £10,000.  So, fingers crossed and watch this space....
