Our Partners

HALE was established in 2002 by a partnership of local voluntary and statutory organisations, following an initiative of Shipley Community Area Panel and extensive community consultation over the preceding months with local groups and residents. The HALE partnership was successful in securing funding from the New Opportunities Fund (since renamed the Big Lottery Fund) to deliver healthy living activities over 5 years, February 2003 - January 2008. In addition to the 5 year grant from the Big Lottery Fund, the project draws in additional "match funding in kind" from partner organisations, including Bradford and Airedale Primary Care Trust and Sure Start Shipley.

The HALE team are currently working to develop and increase the membership of HALE. All participants in HALE activities automatically become a member of HALE. If you have enjoyed a HALE activity and would like to have a say about how HALE develops, why not think about becoming more involved and putting yourself forward for election to the management group at our next AGM?

The HALE team are based in central Shipley, but the majority of the project's work takes place at community venues across the area. HALE has a staff team of 8 who work closely with local schools, mainstream health teams and other voluntary and community organisations working in the area to tackle health inequalities. In addition, HALE's delivery partners, listed below, are responsible for the delivery of its specialist programmes of work, such as arts for health and community broadcasting.
