Apprenticeships

HALE has run two successful Apprenticeship schemes through European funding (ERDF) during 2007 and 2008. The schemes provided paid work for 23 people who were placed in community health organisations such as Surestart, Disability Equipment Bradford, St Hughes Community Centre and Bolton Woods Community Centre for up to two years. Twenty of the apprentices went on to gain full employment or took up places in higher education.

The apprentices gained nutritional knowledge, CV writing skills, interview techniques, etc which had a knock on effect for their friends and families as they became more aware of opportunities that were open to them. The programme also greatly benefited partner hosts by providing them with much needed additional staff and allowing them to make further links with community groups.

We currently have two apprentices who will be with us until September 2010 as part of the Future Jobs fund.  They are working closely with our Community Health Development Workers to learn about, and get involved in, all aspects of HALE's work.
