Activities for Older People
HALE runs a wide range of activities for older people, from gentle seated exercise, to cinema clubs, to bus buddies, to cook and eat classes, to tea dances. Most of the activities that HALE runs are free or cost no more than £2 and anyone is welcome to join in. You can just turn up or ring HALE in advance to book your place.
All our exercise classes are run by a qualified Level Three instructor who can ensure that the exercise carried out is appropriate to your ability.
Currently HALE is supporting two Film Clubs: one at Windhill Community Centre on Mondays and one at Cottingley Cornerstones on Thursdays. We also run a fortnightly Singing for Health group which meets at Hallcroft Sheltered Housing on alternate Tuesdays.
Time 4 Me is an exercise and cook and eat group which meets on Wednesdays at Shipley Baptist Church and on Thursdays at Bingley Arts Centre. The aim is to support people to manage their weight and learn new healthy recipes. For the group at Bingley Arts Centre the emphasis is on supporting people with diabetes.
Gentle Seated Exercise groups meet at Hallcroft Sheltered Housing on Fridays and at Wrose Hill Chapel on Thursdays.
For further details on any of the activities above please see our What’s On page or give us a ring.
