Midwife Drop-Ins: Kirkgate Katch Up & Catch Up in Frizinghall
Our midwife drop in sessions at the Kirkgate Centre in Shipley, and St Margaret's Church in Frizinghall are run by the HALE Project in partnership with Surestart and Midwifery services from Bradford & Airedale NHS. Both sessions aim to support parents and carers of young children, and expectant parents, in a welcoming environment. Each weekly session offers access to a midwife, health visitor, support worker, HALE breastfeeding mentor, and advice on oral health and healthy eating for all the family. We provide cook and eat sessions every week, with parents regularly helping out with the cooking. The sessions are also a chance to get information on birthing options, family services and play activities for young children. The Katch Up runs from 9.00 to 12.30 on Mondays at the Kirkgate Community Centre in Shipley, with a midwife present until 12.00 noon. The Catch Up in Frizinghall takes place every Tuesday from 1.30 - 4.00pm at St Margaret's Church on Shipley Fields Road. All are welcome – just drop in at a time that suits you! Some comments we've had from Katch Up attendees:
"I am so grateful for all the help, advice and practical support offered at HALE's Monday drop-in - right from pregnancy (maternity checks) to post partum exercise class. The fact that this is available in my locality is wonderful; the fact that it is free is amazing. The staff are friendly, approachable and informed - better than any other NHS organisation I have had contact with. I know it sounds sycophantic but I cannot thank them enough." "The post-pregnancy exercise class is fantastic. I have had to give up going to the gym because of difficulty getting childcare, so the class is excellent. It is local to me, so I can walk to it, and all the staff at HALE are so friendly and welcoming. I would definitely continue to use the centre and classes such as this, so please keep them going!" The Health Partnership Project has produced a directory of services available to expectant parents, and parents/carers of young children. You can view or download it here. Gallery
