Stepping Stone Project

Our two specialist Stepping Stone Networkers work with refugees and asylum seekers who need support to get out and about in their community.

If you are a refugee or asylum seeker, or know of someone who is feeling isolated, needing help in accessing services or just finding out what’s available in your area our Stepping Stone Networkers can help.

This could be help to access local courses or groups, find appointment locations, or even working out which bus routes you need to take.

This scheme is running citywide and we have a male and female Stepping Stone Networker.  We can also provide an interpreter if needed.

The Stepping Stone service is FREE.

If you would like to know more, or if you know someone who might benefit from a Stepping Stone Networker, please contact us.

You can download a referral form below and fax, post or email it to us marked FAO Safa Ahmed.

Case study:

X had recently arrived from Bradford with her 4 month old daughter, after being trafficked from Nigeria.  She had suffered multiple abuses and did not know a single person in the area.  Her Stepping Stone Networker showed her around the city, and helped X to join her local library.  X was supported to attend her local Children’s Centre and church, and was found places on cooking, English and IT courses with a free crèche for her daughter.  She no longer spends the majority of her time staying in the house and has even expressed an interest in volunteering so that she can support other people in need.

*We are urgently appealing for donations to the Stepping Stone scheme.  Due to funding cuts we are at risk of having to withdraw this vital service.  could you help?  If you would like to make a donation please contact Fiona on 01274 271088, or visit our Donate page.  Read more about our appeal, as featured in the Bradford Telegraph & Argus here.*
